Music Teaching Resources That Help Students Love Learning

Thoughtfully designed books, sheet music, teaching aids, and classroom resources created by music educator Dr. Dennis Frayne.

For more than three decades, Dr. Dennis has worked with students, families, teachers, schools, and music education organizations to develop practical resources that help people build meaningful, lifelong relationships with music. Every publication is created with one purpose: to make music learning more engaging for students and music teaching more rewarding for educators.

Whether you are teaching a child through their very first lesson, leading an elementary classroom, directing an ensemble, or helping adult learners rediscover the joy of music, our publications are designed to support thoughtful, effective, and enjoyable teaching.

More Than Books

Every publication reflects the educational principles of The Dennis Frayne Approach to Music Education.

Rather than producing isolated teaching materials, we develop resources that work together as part of a connected philosophy of music learning. Our books, arrangements, games, teaching aids, and classroom materials are all designed to help students become musical while giving teachers practical tools they can confidently use every day.

Featured Curriculum

Presto! It's Piano Magic

Presto! It's Piano Magic is the flagship beginning piano curriculum developed by Dr. Dennis Frayne.

Rather than functioning as a traditional piano method series, it serves as the primary instructional curriculum used throughout The Dennis Frayne Association for Music Education certification program. The curriculum reflects decades of classroom experience, studio teaching, educational research, and continual refinement.

Presto! It's Piano Magic is available exclusively to eligible Teacher Members of The Dennis Frayne Association for Music Education.

If you are interested in learning more about the curriculum, the educational philosophy behind it, or teacher certification, we invite you to explore the Dennis Frayne Approach and the Association.

What Makes Presto! It's Piano Magic Different?

Every lesson, activity, and sequence is intentionally designed around principles that help students develop genuine musicianship while making teaching more natural, enjoyable, and effective.

Sound Before Symbol

Students first experience music through listening, singing, movement, imitation, and exploration before reading traditional notation. Understanding grows naturally because musical ideas are experienced before they are explained.

Singing from the First Lesson

Singing is one of the most powerful tools for developing audiation, musical understanding, pitch awareness, rhythm, memory, and expressive performance. Students sing regularly throughout the curriculum as an essential part of becoming complete musicians.

Sequential Learning

Every new concept builds naturally upon previous understanding. Students encounter new ideas at the right time and in manageable steps, allowing confidence and success to grow steadily over time.

Comprehensive Musicianship

Learning an instrument involves much more than playing notes correctly. Students develop performance skills, ear training, creativity, music theory, sight reading, improvisation, composition, listening, conducting, and musical understanding together as connected parts of one musical education.

Creative Music Making

Students are encouraged to create, improvise, compose, arrange, explore, and think independently. Creativity is not treated as an advanced skill reserved for a few students — it is an essential part of learning music from the very beginning.

Inclusive Repertoire

Students encounter music from a wide variety of composers, traditions, cultures, historical periods, and musical styles. This broad musical experience helps students develop curiosity, appreciation, and a richer understanding of music as a shared human experience.

Developmentally Appropriate Teaching

Children learn differently at different ages. The curriculum respects how students naturally grow and learn, presenting concepts at appropriate developmental stages while maintaining high expectations and joyful challenge.

Student-Centered Learning

Every learner is unique. Rather than expecting students to fit a rigid method, the curriculum helps teachers understand their students and adapt instruction in ways that foster confidence, curiosity, independence, and lifelong musical growth.
